“I love poking around the different vendors at the Pasadena Antique Center and then going down the block to check out TL Gurley and across the street to Revival. I especially love their early California furniture.” —Frances Merrill. “Boundary is a relatively new shop but they carry some of the most beautifully designed and crafted lines. House of Joy won the 2016 Express-News Readers’ Choice winner for best Chinese Food, and we’re so proud that our commitment to excellence has been noticed by our customers.

Hoping to resonate with those who enjoy outdoor activities, the project embraces traditional craft and the beauty found in handmade creations. With its implementation of up-cycling, the project also exudes a sense of hope through its environmental responsibility while allowing the user to experience joy as much as the creator did in making them. Addressing this year’s project with an intrinsic curiosity, creatives are invited to explore their emotional connection to the design process. Eventually, each project at House of Switzerland Milano offers a unique interpretation of the joy found in ingenuity and innovation. ‘In exploring the nuances of joy and its connection to design, we hope to re-establish its importance more than ever within today’s world while focusing on the need to encourage a culture which allows it to be distributed in equal measure,’ share the organizers. If you love arts and crafts architecture, this is the house for you.

By depicting the beauty of the sky’s colors reflecting on the water’s surface, a magical moment of wanderlust fills us with optimism and positivity. Resulting in a textile and tableware collection that radiates such happiness, the two brands invite us into a joyful world, celebrating the natural beauty in such locations. Presenting design as a transportive medium to help us lose track of time or place, this is a sensory moment that draws viewers in to appreciate and admire the collection on display.

The Castor series, exhibited here, is crafted from sustainably sourced Japanese hardwoods, while the aesthetic of the Castor chair is based on the ergonomics of traditional Swiss café-style furniture. This cross-cultural collaboration blends the unique perspectives of Karimoku’s craftspeople with an international group of designers, presenting new standards in Japanese furniture design. The Institute of Contemporary Design Practices (ICDP), as part of the Basel Academy of Art and Design, is exploring the notion that joy is essential to design practice and a vital ingredient to creativity. With students approaching each project positively, they continue to implement joy while critically analyzing their working methods and the paradigm of design with its linear problem-solving approach. Conceived within a cabinet of wonders that plays with the perception of space, this exhibition showcases a diverse collection of objects alluding to such emotions that lay the foundation for many art and design projects undertaken. The work has been created by Bachelor and Master students who address questions of technology, culture, and sustainability, with the installation inviting visitors to engage in thought-provoking narratives.

This unusual house was designed for him by Arthur L. Haley in the Arts and Crafts style; it retains its original interiors and furnishings. As long as six corrupt Republicans on the Supreme Court continue to keep bribery legal and morbidly rich CEOs continue to hate unions almost as much as they dislike their own workers, I’m not holding my breath…and you shouldn’t, either. The benefits of unionization aren’t limited to the unionized workers themselves.

This model makes perfect sense with travel bags, and FREITAG is continually experimenting with different loan offers. This project also addresses broader issues of our consumption habits and concentrates on solutions that contribute towards a more virtuous circular economy. In responding to the theme, it reflects on the circularity of joy and how it is passed on from creator to its users, altering the consumption experience. Presenting three products as part of the exhibition, each piece represents one of three outdoor furniture collections with a core focus on the joy felt from being outside. Utilizing the language of design to cross geographical borders and connect cultures, the Swiss-German duo collaborates with companies from Italy and Denmark that have a strong and established design heritage. Joy being a key element driving dance culture for decades, Varia Instruments aims to contribute to extending such happy moments on the dancefloor by creating mixing consoles of superior quality.

In a recent article in San Antonio Express-News, our owner Charles Mohammed said, “I’m very pleased and very happy for all the customers who voted for us. I’m thankful for them voting for us, and I think they’re rewarding me with the amount of years that they’ve been coming here.” To read the full article, click here. House of Joy is not on the same level as the Chinese food palaces down the road in the San Gabriel Valley, but if you’re in the neighborhood and short on time, this 30-year staple is where you head. The menu is massive and you can find pretty much anything you want, but we’d recommend the Chinese/Korean fusion plates.

‘Good Times’ Boss Defends Animated Reboot, Telling Viewers: “I Understand If This Is Jolting”

After meeting during their studies at ECAL, Johannes Breuer and Fritz Gräber set up their design studio, working across the designer’s two resident cities, Stuttgart and Zurich. Specialist in contemporary wooden furniture, Japanese manufacturer Karimoku New Standard has refurbished the House of Switzerland’s restaurant Degustazione utilizing a collection of furniture designed by Swiss studio BIG-GAME. Partnering with each other since 2009 symbolizes the successful crossover between the two groups, merging the heritage and expertise of Japanese craft with the dynamism of Swiss design.

That is the opinion of political columnist Paul Waldman who wrote for MSNBC that the search party for Biden's criminal acts came up empty-handed and the GOP leaders of the House committees are privately telling their colleagues they are giving up. Based upon the fact that the Fox News daily drumbeat about President Joe Biden's impeachment being right around the corner has gone noticeably silent, House Republicans have seemingly admitted defeat. On a final note, Scovell photographed a forlorn black trash receptacle sitting among the planters, polished brass and glass with only a few Trump Tower visitors to be seen. Pecker, who helped Trump in a "catch and kill" scheme to bury stories about his alleged affair with Playboy model Karen McDougal, has been the prosecution's first witness in the criminal hush money trial against Trump in Manhattan. The former president has not directly attacked Pecker — but, Rubin said, he has issued what could be interpreted as a threat to him.

Researchers found that for every 1 percent increase in unionized workers’ wages, there’s a corresponding 0.3 percent increase in the wages of nonunion workers because the unionized workplaces have established the local wage floor. According to Goldman Sachs, American corporations will spend over a trillion dollars this year on stock buybacks alone, all money that could instead have better compensated workers and thus strengthened our working class. Historically, as union density goes up inequality goes down and vice-versa. In the years since Reagan and the GOP declared war on unions in 1981, the wealth of the morbidly rich has exploded while worker salaries have largely stagnated.

Former President Donald Trump's comments about his longtime ally and former National Enquirer head David Pecker are the most compelling case for witness intimidation, legal expert Lisa Rubin told MSNBC's Joy Reid on Friday's edition of "The ReidOut." “A treasure trove of one-of-a-kind finds from around the world, and from every century. We’ve found some of the most incredible and special antiques here.” —Pamela Shamshiri. “I love the sense of whimsy you get when you shop at Nickey Kehoe.

When the bubonic plague ravaged Europe in the middle of the 14th century, it killed so many workers, tightening the labor market, that the few who survived were able to demand higher wages. After documenting Comer's endless "pratfalls" where his witnesses and purported "evidence" fell apart within days if not hours, Waldman explained "despite the best efforts of the House GOP’s worst people, the investigation did not find any corruption." She also reported the Trump Cafe is currently under construction (signage pleading "Pardon our appearance"), reporting it, “'most likely open the second week of May,' said an elderly security guard.

“Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost will be the event’s featured entertainer. Despite its oversized fame, it's a modest-sized house, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a 300-degree-plus view of the city of Los Angeles. Designed by Pierre Koenig in 1959 from a concept developed by the house's owner Buck Stahl, it's also called Case Study House #22.

When worker wage increases are held low, average people have less disposable income and that slows the economy (something called “secular stagnation”); when their pay is enhanced by union representation, the economy surges (as we’re seeing right now). Women workers without a union earn only 78 percent of men; unionized women workers take home fully 94 percent of what men earn. You could argue that we wouldn’t even have American democracy if it weren’t for unions; that we never would have had the Renaissance and the subsequent Enlightenment without them. “Stephan is a very talented interior designer with exquisite taste who just opened his eponymous showroom on Santa Monica Boulevard, where he also has his design office. I’ve known Stephan personally for years and always want everything in his home.” —Wendy Haworth. “I’m obsessed with finding soulful pieces for our projects and Pop Up Home is a place I’ll always find something.

The Balloon Build in Elkhart is partnering with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana, with all ticket proceeds going to the charity. Organizers say they're excited to see the look on children's and even adult's faces, as the experience is truly magical.
